CBD products show strength three ways: mg per serving, mg per bottle, and concentration in mg/mL. A 30 mL tincture with 3,000 mg total is 100 mg/mL. One full dropper, about 1 mL, delivers 100 mg. The same bottle sold as 1,000 mg total delivers about 33 mg/mL. Compare the mg/mL figure, not the bottle total.

Tests of hemp CBD products found samples with CBD amounts that differed from the label by more than 10%. Some samples contained THC above the 0.3% federal limit. A third-party lab report tied to a batch number is the check. Ask for it before buying.

Format and convenience
Delivery format sets onset. Inhaled CBD reaches the blood in minutes. A tincture held under the tongue takes 15 to 30 minutes. Edibles and capsules take 30 to 120 minutes. High-strength gummies and capsules cut the number of units per dose. That is the main convenience claim. Oral bioavailability is low, often under 10%, so a 100 mg edible does not put 100 mg into the blood.
Interactions and side effects
CBD inhibits the CYP3A4 and CYP2C19 enzymes. It can raise blood levels of clobazam, warfarin, and some anticonvulsants. Side effects reported at high doses include diarrhea, drowsiness, and elevated liver enzymes. Epidiolex requires liver monitoring. No federal approval covers hemp CBD for anxiety, pain, or sleep.
Legal status in the US
Hemp CBD with 0.3% THC or less is legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. State rules differ. The FDA has set no daily intake limit for hemp CBD and does not allow it as a food additive.
