Working doses usually land between 2.5 and 10 mg THC, but that window is wide on purpose. Body weight, tolerance, liver enzyme activity, and whether you just ate all shift the result.

Do the math before you touch the dropper
Labels give total milligrams in the bottle and the bottle volume. Divide one by the other and you have your dose per milliliter. A 30 mL bottle with 300 mg of THC is 10 mg/mL, so a full 1 mL dropper is 10 mg, half is 5 mg, and 0.1 mL is 1 mg. That last number matters, because a first dose is often a tenth of a dropper, not a whole one.
Drops are a poor unit. Drop size changes with the viscosity of the liquid, the dropper tip, and how hard you squeeze. Milliliters get measured. A 1 mL oral syringe or a graduated dropper gives you repeatability that "three drops" never will.

Swallowed THC passes through the liver, where it converts to 11-hydroxy-THC, a metabolite that is more psychoactive than THC itself. That is why the same milligram can feel light under the tongue and heavy in the stomach. Pick one route and stay with it while you titrate, otherwise you are comparing apples to oranges.
A titration schedule that holds up
- Days 1 and 2: 1 mg THC, once daily, same time of day.

CBD does not follow the same rules

That convenience is real, and it is a big part of why tinctures outsell flower for some patients. The catch is that convenience only pays off when the dose repeats. Shake the bottle every time, since oil-based tinctures separate. Store it cool and dark. Alcohol-based tinctures hold potency for years; glycerin and MCT-based ones fade faster, especially in a warm car.
Things to skip
Do not pair a first tincture dose with alcohol or another sedative. Do not drive until you know your own curve, and that can take several sessions. Do not dose on a completely empty stomach if you want a slow ramp, since fat in a meal raises absorption of oil-based products. And never double up because you got impatient at the 90 minute mark. That is the single most common way a good dose turns into a bad evening.
