A 2015 trial tested vaporized cannabis in 16 adults with painful diabetic neuropathy. Doses of 4% THC and 7% THC lowered pain intensity compared with placebo. A 1% dose did not. Each person received one dose, so the trial says nothing about long-term use.

Common side effects: dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, impaired coordination. About 9% of adults who use cannabis develop cannabis use disorder. THC can raise heart rate. Smoked cannabis carries the same lung risks as tobacco smoke.
THC and CBD interact with the liver enzymes CYP3A4 and CYP2C9. That can change blood levels of warfarin, some statins, and some seizure drugs. Effects on blood sugar are not well studied. Check glucose if you start or stop.
